As New York City Mayor DeBlasio comes under fire for singling out the Jewish community’s flagrant disregard for adhering to social distancing mandates in the midst of a global pandemic, it’s worth noting that this time last year, a measles outbreak emanated from the anti-vaccination Orthodox Jewish community which appears to be the catalyst for the spread of COVID-19.
Simultaneously, the region’s lawmakers have proposed this very same community donate their plasma and volunteer to sit at the deathbeds of patients suffering from this mysterious and highly-contagious virus. Rightwing Religions: Where Do They Come From? South Africa’s rightwing religions originated historically from a British movement dating from the nineteenth century. The British Israel movement expounded the theory that the British were the real descendants of Biblical Israel and thus God’s only chosen people. They argued that the 10 so-called lost tribes of Israel, who vanished from history after being conquered in 720 before Christ, eventually settled in Britain.
Free State University theologian Sybrand Strauss, who earlier studied South Africa’s rightwing sects for the Dutch Reformed Church, says it is not clear how Afrikaners became involved in this movement. However, a variation of the classic British Israel theory states that not only the British are descendants of Israel’s 10 lost tribes, but all the white peoples of the world. Strauss classifies the different South African followings of this under the term White Israelism. These are people who put excessive accent on Israel, with the aim of religiously justifying their white racial purity. They teach racial segregation in all areas. One of the hottest, and thorniest, issues to emerge in the early stage of the 2020 presidential election — reparations, payments to the descendants of slaves — seems to have an obvious Jewish connection, but the Jewish community seems to be divided on a complex issue that lies at the intersection of race, justice, income inequality and national economics… a groundswell of backing in the Jewish community for reparations to slaves’ descendants appears not to have developed.
While the Jewish community, on the whole, has expressed respect for the payments that the German government, banks, insurance companies and other firms have made to Jewish recipients, sometimes after intense public pressure, prominent Jewish organizations and thought leaders are treading carefully on the subject of reparations for African-Americans.
Apologies are a necessary first step, but they alone cannot solve the present iniquities born of our nation’s original sin: slavery. Reparations can be a contentious issue, but it will be impossible for us to close the racial wealth gap if we aren’t willing to acknowledge the source of this problem. A common misconception that exists today rests on the notion that there are no racial hierarchies in Latin American countries or within the Latino communities in the United States. In other words, Latino (or Hispanic) is itself a race; Whites from Latin America, although marginalized by Anglo-Whites, have been able to pass as honorary Whites and benefit from the inequalities formed by White Supremacy.
This is not new, and it has a history; Anti-Blackness was occurring transnationally between the United States and Latin America. …White Latinos need to own up to their Whiteness because we just can’t continue to afford this to continue any further. We also need African-Americans to understand that Latin America has over 200 million Afro-descendants and that going to Africa also entails going to Colombia, Brazil, Cuba and Puerto Rico, among other countries. The ADL is experiencing a renaissance in its visibility, influence, and fundraising power among well-meaning liberals. These facts are self-evident: in 1963, much of American society still supported segregation, and it wasn’t just the south. The militant branch of this element found a means to undermine recent Supreme Court rulings, particularly the desegregation of public schools, in masonic lodges throughout the country. There in the secrecy of the Brotherhood, hypocrites and pseudo-moderates whom publicly praised the popular civil rights movement were trying desperately to undermine it and its leaders inside the lodge. Those who found the thought of black children attending public schools and universities odious enough to risk civil war over it weren’t just Anglo-Saxon bigots in the Craft, some were right-wing masonic Jewish leaders like Arlen Specter, whose own children- being white- never faced the same type of discrimination as blacks in America.
Over 5 million Americans were segregationist freemasons, with both Gentile and to a smaller extent, Jewish members. All of them were white, conservative males and most of them so opposed to civil rights they would do anything in their power to secretly undermine federal law, starting at the local level and ending at the Supreme Court, where at least two Supreme Court Justices, Hugo Black and Chief Justice Earl Warren, had ties to the KKK. Chinese Roots Lie In Africa, Researchers Say | Most of the population of modern China–one-fifth of all the people living today–owes its genetic origins to Africa, an international scientific team said today in research that undercuts any claim that modern humans may have originated independently in China.
The group used the advanced tools of DNA analysis to create detailed genetic profiles of 28 of China’s official population groups, which comprise more than 90% of the country’s population, to better understand the roots of complex chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension. By exploring the genetic relationships that exist today among so many of China’s ethnic groups, the team also shed light on the ancestry of people in East Asia, who, like everyone, carry in every cell of their bodies genetic hints about their evolutionary history and the journeys of their forebears.
Until now, other researchers said, few studies of human population genetics have taken such a comprehensive look at China. Stanford University geneticist Luca Cavalli-Sforza, an authority on human genetic variation, said, “It is very encouraging to see a cooperative effort of this magnitude beginning to take place in this most important part of the world, and [they] are to be warmly congratulated for it.”
