Jun 09, 2020: The U.S. Supreme Court redefined what for decades federal and state prosecutors thought had been “Indian Country” in eastern Oklahoma when it comes to crime enforcement jurisdictional purposes.
The court upheld challenges from two American Indians who claimed criminal cases prosecuted against them in state court should have been tried in federal court because Congress never disestablished the 19th century boundaries of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation reservation.
The decisions mean Oklahoma prosecutors lack the authority to pursue charges against American Indian defendants in much of eastern Oklahoma, including the city of Tulsa. It also throws into question the convictions of hundreds of American Indian defendants.
Crimes not involving American Indians will continue to be prosecuted in state courts.

The court upheld challenges from two American Indians who claimed criminal cases prosecuted against them in state court should have been tried in federal court because Congress never disestablished the 19th century boundaries of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation reservation.
The decisions mean Oklahoma prosecutors lack the authority to pursue charges against American Indian defendants in much of eastern Oklahoma, including the city of Tulsa. It also throws into question the convictions of hundreds of American Indian defendants.
Crimes not involving American Indians will continue to be prosecuted in state courts.

The colonial-settler state of “Israel,” established on the ruins of Palestine and through the expulsion of the majority of its indigenous population in 1948 and after, is no different.

BBC News is reporting that a doctor and his colleagues in the southern African country of Botswana have found more than 350 elephant carcasses since the beginning of May.
“To be able to see and count that many in a three-hour flight was extraordinary,” McCann told the BBC. “This it totally unprecedented in terms of numbers of elephants dying in a single event unrelated to drought.”
According to the report, Botswana’s government in May ruled out poaching as a reason for the massive number of deaths.
Dr. McCann said the way many elephants were positioned, either on their faces or possibly walking in circles, suggests that something could have attacked the elephants’ neurological systems.
